Is Your Parking Event Folder Full?
Check This Setting First

Dash cams are designed to record continuously, which means storage space must be managed efficiently. Under normal conditions, when the memory card becomes full, the dash cam automatically overwrites the oldest recordings with new footage.

However, you may occasionally notice that the parking event folder is full—or that you need to delete files more frequently than expected.
Before assuming there is a problem with the memory card or dash cam, check whether Event Video Protection is enabled.

What Is Event Video Protection?

Event Video Protection is a setting designed to help prevent important event recordings from being automatically overwritten.

When the dash cam detects an impact during parking mode, the corresponding footage is saved as an event recording. With Event Video Protection turned on, these files remain protected even as regular recordings continue to cycle.

This can help preserve important footage until you have had a chance to review or back it up.

What Happens When Event Video Protection Is ON?

When Event Video Protection is enabled:

  • Important event recordings are protected from automatic overwriting.
  • Protected files remain stored on the memory card.
  • The parking event folder may eventually reach its storage limit.
  • Manual file management may be required when the allocated storage space becomes full.

This setting is useful if preserving every detected parking event is your priority. However, event recordings should be reviewed regularly, and any important footage should be backed up before unnecessary files are deleted.

What Happens When Event Video Protection Is OFF?

When Event Video Protection is disabled:

  • Parking event recordings are managed through continuous loop recording.
  • Once the allocated storage space is full, the oldest recordings can be overwritten by newer ones.
  • Regular folder cleanup is generally not required.
  • The dash cam can continue recording without frequent manual file management.

This option may be more convenient for drivers who prefer automatic storage management and do not want to regularly delete old event files.

However, because older recordings can eventually be overwritten, any important footage should be saved as soon as possible.

How to Turn Off Event Video Protection

You can change the setting directly from the dash cam:

  1. Press Button 1 to open the Settings menu.
  2. Select the Camera tab.
  3. Scroll down using the Up/Down buttons.
  4. Find Event Video Protection.
  5. Switch the setting to OFF.

Once disabled, the dash cam can manage parking event recordings through loop recording, making it easier to maintain available storage space.

Which Setting Should You Choose?

There is no single setting that is right for every driver. The best choice depends on how you prefer to manage your recordings.

Choose ON if:

  • You want detected parking events to remain protected.
  • You review your recordings regularly.
  • You are comfortable manually deleting or backing up files.

Choose OFF if:

  • You prefer continuous loop recording.
  • You want the dash cam to manage storage automatically.
  • You do not want to regularly clean up the parking event folder.

Don’t Forget to Back Up Important Footage

Regardless of which option you select, it is always best to review important recordings promptly. If an accident, impact, or suspicious event occurs, download or copy the footage to another device before it can be deleted or overwritten.

A full parking event folder does not necessarily mean that something is wrong with your dash cam. In many cases, it simply means that Event Video Protection is working as configured.

If you are deleting files every few days, check this setting first and choose the storage management option that best fits the way you use your dash cam.
